When it comes to the world's coolest sailing yachts, there are Wallys, and then theres everything else.
The 100-ft. Wally Dark Shadow, built by the Monegasque boatyard in 2002 and recently refit, is being offered for sale for $4.65 million via the Wally Brokerage, something like Costco for the high-net-worth sailing set. With its wedge shape and contemporary architectural lines the 100-ft. sloop is instantly recognizable as a Wally, a style often copied these days but never equalled. Wally's ethos of combining high performance with ease of handling and utmost comfort is evident in every detail.
In addition to the cockpit the deck includes a large sun-bathing pad over the slim deck-house creating a new open-air lounging or entertaining area. Foster and Partners, the firm of famed London architect Lord Norman Foster, designed the interiors to fit the innovative layout conceived by Wally, with a simple, clean black and white color scheme and impeccable finishes throughout. White lacquered joinery contrasts with a black carbon fiber finish on flat surfaces, with plentiful deck hatches and portholes providing plenty of natural light. There's accommodation for six guests along with four crew, and the yacht cruises at 12 knots but can certainly crank it up when necessary.
