Oh, and the Monaco Grand Prix.

Start at the bottom, and read up with a cocktail in hand.

april: pre-order our iconic limited edition ties

We only make a few of each color. And regularly have to explain that the one you were eyeballing a while back doesn't exist anymore. Outside of the wardrobe of the lucky acquirers. So here is your chance to get ahead of that curve. By letting you get in on a pre-order of Vol. 31 of our most recent re-imagination of our iconic ties.

Vol. 31 as we've been imagining them twice a year for 31 repetitions.

Woven from the finest silk in the world, at a silk weaver in England which has been making silk since 1720 or so. Then hand cut and stitched just for us.

read: pride & prejudice

Not all gossip is to be believed when marriage, money, and reputations are on the line. In a world of noise, remember to find the signal. As the truth is often very different to the misinformation spread to persuade you to judge or act a certain way. Yes there is romance. But there is more. And as Sun Tzu and Machiavelli also teach, learning to control and understand the bias can be very helpful in many things.

Once you have read the book, perhaps get the zombie version in also for some light relief.

experience: Grand Prix De Monaco 2019

We're figuring out our plans for this year's deep dive into the chaos and fumes of the Monaco Grand Prix. If you are interested in joining for a drink, a dinner, to watch the race, or the whole shebang just drop us a line. Pricing varies accordingly. But we are here to help our club of Gentleman RoguesTM in the pursuit of stories. So don't be shy!

watch: my fair lady

Audrey Hepburn is scooped from the filthy streets of London in order to conduct an experiment akin to the original version of Trading Places.

It's a movie. But this version of Pygmalion is as good as any at getting across a point we often try to convey. Perception is reality. And everyone judges a book by its cover. You may need to learn a few new tricks, but the outfit you wrap your personality in will be read and conclusions reached before you even open your mouth.

We're still not sure if, "the rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain"...so we're going to enjoy this again. Just to make sure.

cocktail: mint julep

While relaxing on the front porch of his home on Auric Stud, his Kentucky horse ranch, Auric Goldfinger offers James Bond a mint julep, commenting that the drink is “traditional, but satisfying.” The mint julep certainly is traditional in Kentucky. According to the Kentucky Derby Museum, the cocktail became Churchill Downs’ signature drink in 1938, and today, the Kentucky Derby serves more than 80,000 juleps over its annual two-day event. Seems good to us!

INGREDIENTS:

Mint leaves
Ice
2 ounces Kentucky Bourbon
1/2 ounce Simple Syrup

DIRECTIONS:

1. Add a small handful of mint leaves to a tall Collins glass.
2. Add about half an ounce of simple syrup.
3. Muddle the mixture until the mint becomes fragrant. (Bartender’s hint: A common mistake is to over-muddle the mint leaves until they are shredded, and the crushed veins and stems release a bitter flavor. Once you can clearly smell the mint, you’re done muddling.)
4. Fill the glass with cracked ice and then with Kentucky bourbon.
5. Garnish with additional mint leaves, serve and enjoy.

Bottoms Up!

We like to think that the right outfit transports you to another place. And we've noted before that it does actually make a difference. But even if you have your Edwardian cuffs cut right like our friend in the photo, and your waistcoat with lapel in place, you may need more giddy-up than just a fine wool mohair blend [...]
