It may still be 80 degrees in Gotham City...but Winter Is Coming.
So as and when that happens it will be tweed or overcoat time. Perhaps both.
But no matter where you are in the world you can always do with a great overcoat in your closet. Especially one inspired somewhat by Drambo’s tales of tickling salmon from Scots burns to take home for the pot. Secret pockets always come in handy. And a good poacher’s pocket can go a long way.
So, with thoughts provoked by our weekly read, and our fantastic new overcoat, make yourself a Dead Rabbit Irish Coffee, put your feet up and ponder what cloth you would choose for yours.
purchase: the overcoat
Part Jack Carter, part Danny The Champion Of The World, and in sum - an overcoat with edge, swagger, and hidden depths.
DQ spent a while pondering and refining the design for what looks to become a new signature piece. Complete with a collar that both wows and keeps you nice and toasty when popped up in the snow, rain, or hail with a scarf. As well as double barrel poacher’s pockets should you need to secrete the odd pheasant or two.
Available in everything from the finest quality heavy weight English winter wool, to the most luxurious 100% cashmere money can buy.
As with all of our bespoke items, we need approximately 6-12 weeks to complete one of these. Each is handmade in New York City, using traditional methods of craftsmanship built to last.
read: danny champion of the world
We have long loved Roald Dahl. For more than one of his writings is fantastic. But for us, the firm favourite will always be Danny The Champion Of The World.
For sure this is not Pulitzer Prize winning, high brow, intellectual stuff. But we can’t think of a better story of poaching antics to bring a smile to your face.
If you’ve never read it, pick it up, and take the time. Some might say it’s a children’s book. But we’re all just big kids at heart - so give it a whirl and be sure to tell us how much you enjoyed it.
watch: restless natives
Its not quite poaching. But not far off. You may need a translator much in the vein of Trainspotting, but you’ll get more than a laugh or three from watching this cult classic.
Two poor lads from Glasgow decide to take matters into their own hands when their cash runs low. Armed with tricks and banter they become modern day highwaymen making bus loads of American tourists, “Stand and Deliver” to the tune of Big Country.
We love it. And hope you will too.
