the company founded by the motorsports legend whose name adorns some of the worlds most coveted cars. The latest result of the union is a one-of-a-kind Capeland Shelby Cobra chronograph that will be auctioned at Antiquorum in New York on Dec. 9, with all proceeds going to the recently opened Shelby Automotive Museum in Gardena, CA, which was designed to both honor the legend and inspire a new generation of enthusiasts worldwide.
How to express the speed of a Shelby Cobra in a wristwatch? The 18K red gold Flyback Chronograph features an off-white dial with blue stripes in a nod to the Cobras most iconic livery, blue accents on the dial and hands, a 44 mm satin-finish 18K red gold case, a finely grained black calfskin strap with round-scale blue alligator lining and gray stitching, and an 18K red gold pin buckle. “Shelby Cobra 1965-2015, Unique Piece” is engraved on the case back, framing a sapphire crystal bearing Carroll Shelby’s signature. Inside is a Swiss-made mechanical self-winding movement from the Manufacture La Joux-Perret.
The winning bidder in the Antiquorum auction will also receive an exclusive VIP package experience, valued at $10,000, which includes a visit to the Shelby World Headquarters in Las Vegas where Cobras are made today, an original illustration of the Cobra signed by Cobra driving legends, a Cobra driving experience, two custom-made racing suits, a VIP factory tour, a personal item from the estate of Carroll Shelby, and a photo opportunity in the cockpit of a historic and insanely valuable Cobra CXS2000. Just try not to touch anything.
