Ducasse Meets 007

Words by: Jared Paul Stern

French superchef Alain Ducasse’s new venture in Vegas pays homage not to a great culinary tradition but to the world’s most stylish secret agent.

The Skyfall Lounge at the Delano Las Vegas, set to debut this fall, is a sexy, sophisticated nighstpot of the sort where 007 might encounter his latest nubile nemesis. The exclusive lounge, adjacent to Ducasse’s new South-of-France-inspired eatery Rivea, is located atop the stunning resort with 180-degree views of Sin City.

The contemporary, theatre-style space, designed by Jouin Manku, will feature multiple levels along with an expansive outdoor patio for a rare breath of fresh air above the Vegas Strip. Accents of deep purple, red and honey-gold echoed the city’s brilliant sunsets and supply a suitable backdrop for various kinds of intrigue. Skyfall’s cocktail program will feature a list of handcrafted creations using artisanal spirits boosted of course by an expense-account worthy wine and champagne list.Music will come, courtesy of various DJs with the tempo increasing throughout the evening. Elevated light fare from Rivea’s kitchen will include small crispy Tigelle sandwiches with cured ham, tomato and basil; and squid fritters with spicy pink dipping sauce. Though the lounge is designed to be semi-secret, you won’t need a license to kill in order to gain entry – just be as sharply dressed as any MI6 master spy. And we can give you a hand with that…
