Want to get your driving gloves on a ludicrously beautiful and important Ferrari built for the greatest driver in history?

Look no further than RM Sotheby’s Driven to Disruption sale in NYC on December 10, which will now feature the jaw-dropping 1956 Ferrari 290 MM by Scaglietti. Being offered in addition to the greatest Aston Martin of all time, the stunning 290 MM was built for racing legend and five-time Formula One World Champion Juan Manuel Fangio to compete in the 1956 Mille Miglia. Combining rarity, power, impressive racing history, and achingly good looks, it went on to be driven by the greatest drivers of the 1950s. Not to mention Enzo Ferrari was personally involved in its creation making it a fundamental part of Ferrari folklore.

At the Mille in ’56, Fangio, hands down the best driver of his era, and considered by many to be the greatest driver who ever lived, raced the 290 MM single-handedly, finishing an impressive 4th overall in a race plagued by tough conditions. Wearing a unique factory color scheme in the Argentinian colors in honor of Fangio, the car featured a totally new 3.5-liter V-12 engine and was one of only four 290 MMs to be built. Furthermore, it was one of the first Ferraris raced in Europe by Phil Hill, no slouch either, and it won the 1957 World Championship Buenos Aires 1000 KM. And if you’re prepared to pay north of $10 million or so you could be its next pilot, at the precious prancing horse’s 60th anniversary at the Mille Miglia next year….
